United Way Partners WIth W.F. For FallsRide

Wichita Falls, TX (March 29, 2012) – The North Texas Area United Way, in partnership with the City of Wichita Falls Public Transportation department, are joining together to remind older adults and those with limited disabilities there's no need to sit at home alone or miss a doctor's appointment when you can "hitch a ride on a star" and go where you want to go on the city's FallsRide public transportation system.
A 2009 United Way audit of local senior care organizations determined access to transportation is a critical barrier for older adults in our community. The North Texas Area United Way Health Council has taken on the task of bringing the public transportation system and its many benefits to light through a public service campaign to begin Monday.
Through FallsRide, older adults can take advantage of special services like the Grocery Cart Route which makes its rounds three times per week, and older adults with limited disabilities who qualify may get at-home pick-up through the FallsRide route deviation program.
