J.T. Barrett Commits to Ohio State

Rider quarterback J.T. Barrett has verbally committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes and Head Coach Urban Meyer.

Barrett is the second Rider star to play for Meyer, after current Buffalo Bills wide receiver David Nelson, who played for Meyer at Florida.

Barrett told Newschannel 6 he received input from Nelson and former Rider star Shavodrick Beaver about handling the recruiting process.

He also said he waited until he was absolutely sure about his decision before calling Meyer and assistant coach Tom Herman, who handled his recruiting.

He said he did not want to decommit later, for fear it would reflect negatively on other Rider players.
