Midwestern State's Christina Roosmalen garnered Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week honors Tuesday afternoon when league officials announced weekly awards.
The junior transfer first baseman from Southern Mississippi blistered the ball at a .647 pace and a 1.118 slugging percentage in her five games last week to extend her current hitting streak to eight games.
Roosmalen was 11-for-17 at the dish with two doubles and two home runs while driving in eight runs.
The Plano native kicked off her week with a 4-for-4 effort with a homer, a double and three RBIs in Game 1 Wednesday at Central Oklahoma then added a second bomb in Game 2 against the Bronchos.
Roosmalen drove in two more runs in the opener against Abilene Christian on Friday before logging a pair of multiple-hit games on Saturday against the Wildcats.
The Mustangs (25-24) open single-elimination Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament play against Tarleton State Friday at Pioneer Field in Denton, Texas. First pitch is set for 11:30 a.m.
With a win, MSU moves on to face the victor of the Texas Woman's/Incarnate Word matchup in the semifinal round Saturday at noon. The championship game is set for later that evening at 6 p.m.

Daily ticket prices will be $8 for adults and $5 for students. Children five and under will be admitted free of charge. Tickets go on sale 90 minutes before the first game each day.
