Blasting Birds?

Wichita Falls City Councilors have an interesting item on their agenda this Tuesday.
Councilors will be considering waving part of an ordinance to allow controlled explosions near a Wichita Falls intersection.

A large flock of Egrets are in the trees at Loop 11 and Maurine Street. The birds are a problem and Sheppard Air Force Base has asked permission to set off some powerful fireworks in that area to hopefully convince the birds to move. The size of the explosions they want to use are above what is allowed in the city code. Councilors would have to approve a waiver to the ordinance. They will vote on that Tuesday. Newschannel six will keep an eye on this story for you to see what is decided.
