Wichita County Courthouse Renovation Plans

The Wichita County Courthouse will soon undergo the second phase of renovation. Construction will begin Monday, May 7.

A significant change is that all routine entry to the courthouse will be through the 7th Street south entrance to include jail visitation. Handicapped and mobility impaired will be able to enter through the same entrance by using the new temporary ramp in the east parking lot near the handicapped parking.

This project will do several things to improve operation and appearance.

Judge Dockery's court has been moved to room 200 and her office as well as the AG interview area to the room 202 complex.

When construction is complete, Central Magistrate Office will move to room 150, Warrants and Collections will move to the renovated area where JPs 1-1 and 1-2 have been.

The Mail Room will return to first floor, a new meeting and early voting room is planned, the men's and women's restroom will be made into a handicap accessible Family restroom and the Aramark manager will be relocated to this area for better jail access.

On second floor, the former commissioners' office area has been made office space for four of the Assistant Criminal District Attorneys. The ladies restroom will have an employee lounge adjacent to it.
