Rider goaltender Drake Szczepinski signed a National Letter of Intent Tuesday to play college soccer at Midwestern State University.
Szczepinski set a Texas high school record with 25 shutouts this season for the Raiders (28-3), who advanced to the State Tournament final before falling in a shootout to San Antonio Alamo Heights.
He will join an MSU program that graduated two goalies in the past two seasons, and currently features three goalies who will all be either sophomores or redshirt freshmen in the fall.
Of the three, only Noah Fazekas played this past season, as he saw action in five games, with one start.
Szczepinski said he hopes to compete for the starting job as a freshman, but doesn't expect anything to be handed to him.
