WFISD Names Interim Superintendent

The Wichita Falls Independent School District Board named an interim superintendent while the board searches for a permanent replacement.

The board named Dr. Tim Powers interim superintendent. When it comes to being the temporary replacement, Powers said, "First of all I'm very honored that the board would ask me to serve as the interim during their search period. Plus it means that they have confidence in me to do the job for the interim, and I'm very happy to do that. But as a personal decision, I'm not going to seek that position. The board has agreed that they're going to go out and I'm going to support that wholeheartedly, and when they find that new person, I'm going to give them my complete support."

The WFISD is seeking a replacement for Dr. George Kazanas. He is leaving next month to become the superintendent of Midway ISD in Waco, TX.
