Cause for Cinco De Mayo: Our Lady of Guadalupe Church

Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church is reaching out and helping Texoman residents in need, but they need your help to continue serving those in need.

Newschannel 6 visited with Father Pacheco at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church and he said the church has seen an increase of residents asking for help.

Leticia Ruddy, has been a volunteer at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church for  20 years. She has seen first hand how this church is helping the community.

Ruddy said, "A lot of people that come to this church don't realize how much they help people. Not just the members of the church, but the whole community."

Father Pacheco commented, "We try to reach out to not only our parish community, but the entire community of Wichita Falls." Father Pacheco added, "That's something that's very important to us here at the church."

Father Pacheco said he has seen a recent increase of people in need. "We try to hold ourselves open for the people of the community and help people in any situation we can."

People are needing assistance paying bills or getting food from the churches food pantry. The church also helps residents with their immigration forms and medical and prescription bills.

"As they go to another governmental agency or some other agency, there's this aspect of being a little unsure so they come here."

Father Pacheco said their doors are open to anyone. Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church needs your help to continue to help others.

If you would like to help and give back to the church, Our Lady Of Guadalupe church is hosting their annual Jamaica event Saturday. It starts at 2 PM and goes until 10 PM. Everyone is invited.
