Rider Spring Football Game

Rider's football team is looking to build on a state quarterfinal appearance in 2011.

The Raiders ended their spring season with their spring game at Ervin Garnett Field. Ohio State commit J.T. Barrett book-ended the game with a fourth-down touchdown throw on the offense's opening series and the game-winning bootleg throw to end the game.

Head coach Jim Garfield says he was pleased with the game, stressing that most important thing for the summer is for his players to get healthy. He says he expects strong competition at defensive line and linebacker entering the new season.

Rider went 10-4 last season, losing to Waco Midway to end the season. The Raiders open up the 2012 season against at Abilene Cooper on August 31, the same team they came back to upset last year to open the season.

Old High wraps up its spring with its Red & Black game on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
