Vernon College is getting more than $200,000 to beef up its paramedic program.

The college is one of eleven community colleges and technical institutes getting money from the state.

The Texas Comptroller's Office said the money will be used for training equipment.

Since 2009, community colleges and technical institutes have been awarded $16 million to buy career training equipment.
