The Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce and Industry handed out it's Small Business awards Monday, May 21.
John Ahearn received the 2012 Chamber Small Business Person Award. Ahearn took over the company four years ago when it was in bankruptcy and eight months later, it was in the black.

- 1st runner up, Danny Ahern and John Dickinson- Iron Horse Pub.
- 2nd runner up, Rodney Horn- Wichita Medical Supply Company.

The Pecan Shed was awarded with the 2012 Chamber Family Business award. The Montz family has been expanding that business for the last 30 years into what it is today.
The Pecan Shed is only the second company to receive the Chamber Family Business Award. Waggoner Carpet One received the honor in 2010, the first year the award was given.
U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) requirements for the Small Business Person Award include a substantiated history as an established business, growth in the number of employees, increase in sales/unit volume, innovativeness in products/services offered, handling adversity, and contributing to the community.
The Family Business Award requirements are success in sales profits, employment opportunities for family and non-family members, demonstrated potential for long term business success and growth, voluntary efforts to strengthen family-owned businesses, and passed on from one generation to the next for at least 15 years.
