Wichita Falls police are investigating a one car accident.
Police said the driver hit the guardrail on the left side, around 4 a.m. Friday, and landed in the middle of I-44.
The accident caused police to shut down the interstate where it splits to go to Lawton or Vernon as they cleaned up the wreckage. It opened back up shortly after the accident.
It happened less than a day after the I-44's speed limit signs changed from 70 mph to 75 mph. That part of the highway's speed limit, however, has not yet changed because it still has 70 mph signs up.
