Fireworks Ban May Be Lifted This Year

Posted: Updated:

Wichita County Commissioners made their decision on fireworks and their Monday special session. They agreed as of now fireworks ban is not necessary. This means it is legal to set off fireworks in Wichita County, but not within city limits.

We reached out to Wichita County Judge Woody Gossom to ask about a possible ban. Judge Gossom told Newschannel 6 late last week that he is leaning toward allowing fireworks in the county this July 4th. He said the volunteer fire departments he has spoken with do not think a ban is necessary.

County Judges in Texas have the right to prohibit the use of fireworks for 60-hours.
