Former Wichita Falls High School pitcher Griffin Russell waited only three innings of his first professional game before making his debut, and he made it count.
The lefty pitched two scoreless innings in the season debut of his Arizona Rookie League team to record the win in a 15-7 Padres victory.
After starting pitcher Michael Kelly allowed five runs, three earned, in three innings, Russell came in with a 10-5 lead and made it hold up.
He allowed two hits, one in each inning of work, and struck out his second batter of the game. He did not issue a walk.
