W.F. Carjacking Turns Into High Speed Chase

Law enforcement agencies were led on a high speed chase that stretched from Wichita Falls into Oklahoma.

The chase began Tuesday around 1:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Red Fox Rd. Wichita Falls Police responded to a carjacking with a gun. Police said the suspect, 27-year-old Jonathan Blake Hendricks, took off toward the Red River in the stolen blue Honda Accord.

Burkburnett Police were called to help stop Hendricks. They laid down spike strips on State Highway 240, near I-44. The driver swerved the car to miss the spikes and hit a concrete median. The collision caused the vehicle to flip on its side. The car then fell back on its wheels and the chase continued into Oklahoma.

Police said Hendricks stopped at Exit 1, just north of the Red River, and took off on foot. He was taken to United Regional with minor injuries and then to the Wichita County Jail.

Hendricks is charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and evading arrest in a vehicle. His bond is set at $61,000.
