Burkburnett ISD Shake-Up

The Burkburnett ISD School Board is shaking up the upper levels of school administration. The board made the announcement on Tuesday night, moving 5 principals or assistant principals into new positions.

Burkburnett High School Principal Del Hardaway is leaving to become the director of the Gateway Alternative Education Center.

He'll be replaced by Brad Owen, whose leaving his post as Principal of the Middle School.

Taking over at the Middle School is Scott Slater, former principal at Evans Elementary.

There's a promotion in store for Michelle Wiese. She's leaving her position as a Vice Principal at the Middle school to become Principal at Evans Elementary.

Superintendent Danny Taylor said all of the administrators were aware of the changes and many were pleased. He said, "We've had a couple of meetings with individuals involved in the process and they all seem to be pretty satisfied."

School Board President Curtis Heptner said, "From the boards standpoint we allow our superintendent, which is one of our jobs, to run the district and any changes he makes we support and we feel he makes the changes based on what he feels is best for the district."

There were no changes made at Hardin or Tower Elementary Schools.
