Teenager's Testimony To Continue At Voter ID Trial

WASHINGTON (AP) - A San Antonio teenager who says she'll be disenfranchised by Texas new voter ID law returns to the witness box at a trial determining whether the law violates the federal Voting Rights Act.

Victoria Rose Rodriguez told a federal court on Tuesday that she has limited documentation and would struggle to get a new voter ID card with a photo. She's expected to continue her testimony under cross-examination from attorneys for the state of Texas when proceedings resume Wednesday.

A three-judge panel in Washington is hearing evidence on whether a 2011 law requiring voters to show photo identification violates the federal law. The judges are hearing the case after Texas sued the Justice Department, which blocked the law under the Voting Rights Act in March.
