Beware of a teen going from business to business asking for donations for a Rider track meet.
A teenager is falsely soliciting local community members and businesses for money identifying himself as a Rider High School track athlete. He has been asking for money to attend a fictitious track meet.
Neither Rider High School nor the Rider Track program is involved in a fundraiser for a track meet at this time.
Wichita Falls ISD Spokesperson Renae Murphy said someone in the community notified the school district after the teen boy approached the person. There's no description at this time but police have been notified.
Murphy said this type of scam happens from time to time, typically in the summer and during football season.
