Massive Fire Closes 287

Our Newschannel 6 crew is at a massive grass fire that shut down part of Business 287.

The grass fire is burning near some oil machinery, east of Electra.

According to TXDot, Southbound 287 is now open. Northbound is also open but down to one lane of traffic, between Harmony Rd. and FM 2384.

The North and Southbound lanes of Business 287 were closed at Burnett Ranch Road at around 1 p.m. One lane was reopened about a half hour later.

Our crew said they saw Electra and Iowa Park fire departments, and a lot of DPS and Sheriff's units for traffic control.
