Posted: Updated:

A woman hit an elderly man with her van sending him to the hospital.

Newschannel 6 Natalie Garcia was there at the intersection of Taft Blvd and Southwest Pkwy around 8 a.m. Friday. She saw the driver hit the man while he was crossing the street. The impact caused him to fly through the air.

The woman never slowed down when crossing the intersection.

The pedestrian struck by the van is identified as 75-year-old Merlin Riddle of Wichita Falls. Riddle was taken by ambulance to United Regional. We have calls in to learn his condition.

The accident is under investigation. The woman told Natalie at the scene she was distracted by construction in the area.

Natalie's looking at how to stay safe on the road tonight on Newschannel 6.
