Saturday Heat Fuels Grass Fire

The extreme heat and dry grass did not help firefighters as they battled a Saturday morning blaze.

The fire sparked off FM 171 and FM 2393 about six miles away from Byers.

It took firefighters from Charlie Thornberry and Dean Dale a few hours to get everything under control.

At one point the flames were very close to a home. Firefighters were able to put out the fire before it touched the house. Several acres however were scorched.

Stay with Newschannel 6 as we look into what caused the flames to ignite.
