Boy Dies From Heat Exhaustion

Posted: Updated:

Family and friends laid to rest a 10-year-old Hardeman County boy Thursday.  Officials believe the boy might have died from heat exhaustion July 20.

The Hardeman County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call just after at 3:45 p.m. Friday requesting an ambulance South of Chillicothe for a 10-year-old and a 16-year-old boy believed to be suffering from heat exhaustion.

Ambulance staff took the 16-year-old to the Chillicothe hospital and later transferred him to United Regional. He has since been released. The 10-year-old was pronounced dead.

The Investigation indicates the two boys were walking from home to a dairy farm a short way from the house and were overcome by the heat. An autopsy will be performed by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.

The incident is still under investigation and the names are not being released at this time.

A fund has been set up at Chillicothe First National Bank for memorials in lieu of flowers.
