Bowie Man's Body Found In Lake

The Bowie man who went missing Sunday Lake Lewisville has been found.

Family members watched from the shore Tuesday as divers searched for 21-year-old Joel Mills. His body surfaced around 1 p.m.

Denton County Game Warden Stormy McCuistion said Mill was last seen alive on the lake Sunday morning. He was sailing with family when he jumped in the water to grab something that had fallen in. Mills got away from the sail boat, and didn't have a life jacket on.

Another person jumped in to help but was not able to reach Mills before he went under.

The Lewisville Dive Team, The Lewisville Fire Department, The Core Of Engineers and Denton County Game Wardens were at the scene that day but divers couldn't search the 40 feet deep waters until Monday at dawn because of heavy boat traffic and wind.

McCuistion said Mills was not a good swimmer and alcohol absolutely did not play apart in his drowning.

This is the 8th drowning on Lake Lewisville since Memorial Day.
