Lawton Police Investigate 2 Overnight Shootings

LAWTON - Police are investigating two separate shootings early Wednesday morning.

The first shooting overnight happened a little after 1:30 a.m. in the area around 21st and NW Hoover. That's where a man was found shot in the leg in a backyard.

Officers told dispatchers it appeared the man was hit by shotgun pellets. They also said he was carrying a semiautomatic pistol. Early reports said police were looking for the gunman.

The later shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of C Avenue when officers received a call about a man trying to break down the front door. Police said the suspect shot the man after he broke into his ex-wife's house.

By the time police got to the scene, the man had been shot and was in serious condition. He was conscious and breathing before an ambulance showed up to take him to a hospital.
