Possible TB Case In Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS - A case of tuberculosis could be in Wichita Falls.

Wichita County Public Health District informed the Faith Mission staff that a male who has stayed at Faith Mission has a preliminary diagnosis, but not yet confirmed, of tuberculosis (TB). Therefore, the Health District made recommendations to Faith Mission that male individuals who have stayed overnight inside the shelter since January of this year receive a TB test. Staff and other persons who have spent more than six hours a day inside the building should also be tested.

Public health nurses from Wichita County began testing staff and individuals on July 31, 2012 at Faith Mission, 1300 Travis Street. Testing has been completed on 29 individuals and results are pending at this time. Lab results are anticipated in ten days.

Testing will continue. Individuals that think they may need to be tested, may contact Sarah Gonzalez at the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District at 940-761-7686 or their physician.
