Cattle Rescued In Archer County Grass Fire

Firefighters worked to save a herd of cattle that were cornered in the wall of a large grass fire in Archer County.

Newschannel 6 was at the scene of the blaze that started on FM 1954 at Thorman Rd., east of 281. It has now spread north to Jentsch Rd.

Firefighters are managed to keep the fire away from more than a dozen cows. Others helped herd the livestock to a safe holding area and were ready to drive them off in a trailer if the flames continued to spread.

The fire is now under control and more 60 percent contained. No structures were in danger.
