Clay County deputies made a drug bust early Saturday morning. Just after 5 a.m. a deputy stopped 25-year-old Darren Scott Murphy Jr. and his passenger Jamal Laron Locke. The vehicle was reportedly traveling 90 mph in a 70 mph zone off 287 NB and Spur 510. The Deputy noted that both Murphy and his passenger had blood shot eyes. The were handcuffed and placed to the side.
Another Deputy arrived on scene to assist. During their investigation they found 83.7 grams of methamphetamine, pills and a digital scale.
Murphy was taken into custody on a $15,000 bond with the offense of manufacture or delivery of a substance.
