Residents of Altus are encouraged to keep their alerting account with the city up to date so can be insured of getting important information from the City.
According to Lloyd Colston, Altus emergency management director, over 200 people did not get notified of the recent call to conserve water because of bad numbers.
"I spent a number of hours checking numbers and adjusting a few accounts," said Colston.
Several hundred users are subscribed to the system. Those users are asked to keep their information up-to-date and may use it to do so.
Residents who do not have an Blackboard Connect account can get one free at the same web page. Email and text messages are sent for severe weather. Phone calls are sent for important city announcements and surveys.
