MSU Football Practice Begins

Defending Lone Star Conference champion Midwestern State welcomed 124 players back to campus Friday in preparation for camp which kicked off Saturday.

The Mustangs' coaching staff greeted 60 returning players off of a last season's squad that recorded the first unbeaten regular season on the way to their first outright LSC title.

The stellar group which includes five players who earned All-America mention last season is buoyed by 24 transfers and 40 incoming freshman to begin camp.

The group worked through the standard opening day agenda featuring paper work sessions and briefings from the many different components from all over the MSU campus before receiving physicals and drawing equipment in preparation for drills.

THIS WEEK'S PRACTICE SCHEDULE: Midwestern State is set to go through single afternoon practice beginning at 4:50 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday before taking a single morning practice on Wednesday at 9:35 a.m. in preparation for its first two-a-day workouts on Thursday beginning at 9:20 a.m. and against at 4:10 p.m.

The Mustangs are slated for a single practice on Friday at 4:50 p.m. before working through a second two-a-day on Saturday (9:20 a.m. / 4:10 p.m.).

WEATHER FORECAST: The standard fare of 100-degree heat continues through the midweek with forecasted highs for 101-108 through Thursday with very little chance of rain.

Cooler temperatures will usher in the weekend with highs on Fri., Aug. 17-Mon., Aug. 20 running from 92-96 degree with the best chance of scattered storms coming on Friday (40 percent).
