The Henrietta Bearcats are striving for a decade of excellence this season.
The team made it to the postseason for the ninth year in a row in 2011.
"These kids have never known anything different," head coach Byron West said. "They keep working and understanding the expectations of it."
Even though a future playoff run is the goal, players are quick to point to the Henrietta way, which means focusing on the next game.
"Right now, we're trying to focus on one week at a time, going to each game, playing the best we can, with the best team winning," senior C.D. Crumpton said. "Hopefully, that best team is us."
Thirteen starters return for Bearcats in 2012. Also, a trio of runningbacks return in Tyler Coleman, Ethan Cantrell and Dalton Day.
One player now graduated in quarterback Kolten Booher, who ran for 1,069 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.
Junior Connor Fletcher takes over the starting job.
"We've been really lucky the last six years, I've had a running quarterback back there that's really put pressure on defenses," West said. "I expect we'll going to have no less this year. I have full faith in him that he can do the things he needs to do for us to be successful."
