A State Health Department PIO confirmed with Newschannel six that there has been one West Nile death reported from Montague county. The case happened Friday Aug. 24th.
Jimmie McNair Sr., 75, died Aug. 12th. At one point the bowie man's cause of death was considered a heart attack. Later state health officials confirmed he died from the west nile virus.
Texoma citizens can prevent mosquito bites by following these tips:
Wear long sleeves and long pants when outside
Stay indoors at dusk and dawn
If you go outside wear a mosquito repellent with Deet
Keep your yard clean and free of areas were water can stand, giving mosquitoes a place to breed
