Our Newschannel 6 crew was at a large grass fire near Dean on hwy 79 north, about 10 minutes from 287.
Units from Jolly, Petrolia, Dean, Henrietta, Wichita East, and Lake Arrowhead responded to the fire that started Wednesday around 2 p.m. The flames jumped a dirt road before it was contained just before 5 p.m.
Lake Arrowhead Fire Chief Mike Hall said about 200 to 300 acres burned. No one was injured.
No houses nearby were threatened or damaged.
The cause of the blaze is unknown. At one point it looked like a controlled burn that got out of control. Now it's believed to have started after a truck pulling a trailer with chains sparked up.
