Donations Needed For Family Who Lost House/Truck In Fire

An account has been opened for donations to the family who lost their house and truck to a fire off Hwy 79.

Our Newschannel 6 crew was on the scene Tuesday morning of a house fire. Wichita East VFD Chief Hayden Hansen said it started about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday when a Chevy pickup caught fire underneath a car port. That fire spread to the house.

The owners were asleep in the house at the time but the truck alarm woke them up. No one was injured.

A number of first responders were called to the scene including Wichita East, Jolly, Dean and Cameron Gardens. The Red cross was also called in to help.

Wichita County Sheriff's deputies directed traffic that, at one point, was completely blocked off. It took about 5 hours to put both fires out between Hwy. 287 and Dean.

Donations go to Brandi Putney and Mackenzie Parks at Chase bank. The account number is 987460508.

If anyone wants to donate other items they can call Raynae Miller Long at 447-5866 to arrange pick up.

"I had mixed feelings you know, you're sad because you've lost a great person but you're excited for him," Faith Baptist Church Pastor Craig Lile said. "He was 98, or 99 years old and he was going home where he had been looking forward to being. Last few years he talked about how eager he was to be back with his wife."
