North Central Texas College is offering new admission dates for the GED Academy in Bowie.
Popularly known as the GED Academy, the Drop Out Recovery and Career Pathways Program financially and personally assists students in obtaining their GED, passing the THEA college entrance exam, and enrolling in career training programs at NCTC.
This grant is sponsored by the Texas Education Agency and administered through NCTC. The school is one of only two community colleges to receive the grant.
To be eligible, applicants to the Drop Out Recovery and Career Pathways Program must be between the ages of 18-25. They must have either last attended a Texas high school or Texas-based home school. Those who completed the 12th grade at a Texas high school but were unable to graduate because they could not pass a TAKS test are also encouraged to apply.
Admission sessions are scheduled for Sept. 27 and Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m., at Bowie High School. Prospective students should bring a driver's license or other ID that verifies birth date, documentation from last school attended and a willingness to learn.
