MSU Roundup: Football to be Webcast Live

Saturday's Midwestern State football game at Texas A&M-Kingsville is the opener of the five-game series of Lone Star Conference webcasts on FoxSportsSouthwest.com.

The Fox Sports Southwest website will have a link active on Saturday to view the contest live from Javelina Stadium in Kingsville at no charge.

The web series is a part of the partnership agreement with Fox Sports Southwest reached last winter and featured regular season men's and women's basketball and the Lone Star Conference Tournament in Allen.  It will also feature the LSC volleyball tournament championship match in November.

Handling the play-by-play of Saturday's game is veteran LSC announcer Chris Needham.

The broadcast is slated to start at 6:45 p.m. in advance of the 7 p.m. kickoff.

It is the first of two appearances for MSU on the web series this football season.  The Mustangs will also be on the series on Oct. 27 when MSU hosts Eastern New Mexico at Memorial Stadium.

Other games in the series include Texas A&M-Commerce at Incarnate Word on Oct. 6, Abilene Christian at West Texas A&M on Oct. 13 and Angelo State at Tarleton State on Nov. 10.

Each of the contests will be video streamed live on FoxSportsSouthwest.com, not on the cable television network.

The Mustangs are one of five teams from a strong South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 2 Adams State (Colo.), No. 4 Western State (Colo.), No. 21 Colorado Mines and No. 30 Colorado-Colorado Springs.

Midwestern is idle this week before competing in the Kansas Invitational on Sat., Sep. 29 in Lawrence.

W. Soccer: Molen Takes LSC Defensive Honors

Midwestern State's Anna Molen gained Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors when the league announced its weekly honors Wednesday afternoon.

The junior center back played a key role to help Midwestern State turn the tide on the back row last week in earning a draw Friday against Angelo State before claiming its first win Sunday at Incarnate Word.

With assistance from senior outside back Berklee Dressler, Molen led a back row featuring a pair of freshmen in Alex Edwards and Alexandra Copp making their first starts limit the opposition to one in 200 minutes of field time.

Angelo State's Kara Edwards also earned Lone Star Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Rambelles' defense to limit opponents to only one goal in 200 minutes of action while also gaining one assist.

Midwestern State plays host to a pair of matches this weekend at the MSU Soccer field. The Mustangs take on West Texas A&M Friday night at 5 p.m. before face Eastern New Mexico Sunday at 1 p.m.

After watching the Dallas Cowboys run around in just helmets the first two days, it was finally time to hear the pads clash together.  Head Coach Jason Garrett stuck to his normal game plan of having the offense and defense practice separately to start camp, but today the pads went on and the competition ramped up. "This is when we can come out and actually show what we've worked on and show that we've put in work. It starts when guys walk in the locker room...
