Employers are already putting out the now hiring sign for the holiday season. Retail giants like Target and Kohl's are already looking for employees.
Workforce solutions North Texas officials said retailers are searching for seasonal workers a month earlier this year. With so many people unemployed at the moment, employers are being more choosey. Workforce solutions officials said seasonal jobs can easily lead to full-time jobs, and that is why every person needs to bring their top game.
Bill Scantlin, Business Services Manager, said, "They need to be as prepared as they can be. They have to have a very good resume to get the attention of that perspective employer, to get the interviewer." Scantlin added, "Once they get to that interview they need to verbally back up that resume."
Workforce Solutions North Texas does offer classes weekly for resume preparation and interviewing technics.
The majority of seasonal jobs available are not always advertised so Workforce Solutions suggest when you are out look for those help wanted signs, go directly onto their website, or just ask another employee.
About 80% of the companies looking to hire in Texoma are in the service and hospitality industry. Also the positions such as assistants in the medical field are opening up.
