The Wichita Falls Nighthawks announced Thursday morning that NFL superstar Tim Tebow will be on hand for the team's debut game, February 17th against the defending MPFL champion North Texas Stampede.
Tebow will meet and interact with fans before the game, perform an honorary coin toss, and meet team sponsors, as well as 25 fans who will be selected at random for a private meet-and-greet during the second quarter.
At halftime, Tebow will also give away an autographed helmet and jersey, and present a check from the Nighthawks to a local youth group.
Team co-owner and general manager Jerry Hughes says this is just the first of many special promotions the team has in store, including professional sky-divers, other NFL stars, and major national recording artists.
He said he realizes that Wichita Falls has seen teams come and go before, and he wanted to bring in a big name so people would come out and see for themselves the difference in entertainment value the Nighthawks will bring.
"We're excited to unveil this product, and that's what this man is going to help us do," Hughes said Thursday morning.
"We understand the mountain that we're climbing, with what has been here before and how many disappointments have been here.
"We have nothing to hide and we have an unbelievable product, so we want to stick 17,000 eyes on us in Game One, and let people understand what's there."
Tickets to all Nighthawks games will be $10, and tickets will go on sale at Christmas Magic this November.
