Race for the Cure

Thousands of area runners raced their way through Wichita Falls early Saturday morning for Race for the Cure. More than 3,000 were expected to make the run to fight breast cancer. Local celebrity Markelle Martin, a Rider graduate who now plays for the Tennessee Titans, stopped by and signed some autographs.

The 2011 race raised almost 200,000. Organizers hope this year was even better! Seventy-five percent of the proceeds went to fund local breast cancer screening, education, and special treatment programs and 25 percent benefited Komen breast cancer research grants.
