GOTW: Jacksboro at Nocona

Our Dr Pepper Game of the Week matches up two of the best and most surprising teams in Texoma: Nocona & Jacksboro.

The level of surprise for each District 5-2A, Div. II teams is a bit different however. Nocona is off to the program's best start in nearly 50 years at 8-0. At the beginning of the season, the vibe around Texoma was for Nocona to compete for a playoff spot. Undefeated, a win over a Holliday and a shot at a district championship is a different story.

As surprising Nocona's run is, Jacksboro's ride to a 7-1 record is much more unexpected. The Tigers are coming off a back-to-back 2-8 seasons, without a district win either year.

Both teams credit coming together at the right time and strong senior leadership as keys to their combined 15-1 record.

Newschannel 6 will have coverage of our Game of the Week each Tuesday & Thursday at 6 p.m. & 10 p.m. and Friday at 6 p.m. Then, watch the highlights first at 10:30 p.m. On the Friday Night High School Football Update.

With a little over a month till the start of the Wichita Falls Force inaugural season, almost all of the players have made it to Texoma and they are excited to get started. "I think it will just be fun to be a part of the community," defenseman from Colorado Granger Blach said. "Get out there, have fun playing hockey all the time. Just focusing on that and not having to worry about everything else." "It's great to see a new group of boys," Jake Landers,...

Calling Davis’ retirement unusual may be an understatement, but it’s a much kinder term than his teammate Lorenzo Alexander used.
