Iowa Park softball standout Baylee Voigt signed Thursday to play college ball at Midwestern State, adding her power bat to a hard-hitting Mustang lineup for head coach Brady Tigert.
Baylee said she chose MSU for a few reasons, including the proximity to home and family, and the team's power-hitting reputation.
She knows it may be tough to break in behind the plate, with All-LSC First-Teamer Kim Jerrick behind the plate now, but by the time Voigt gets to MSU Jerrick will be a senior, so she expects to maybe play somewhere in the field for a year before hopefully moving behind the plate.
Baylee has hit 22 home runs, including four grand slams in her three years of high school softball, the first at City View and the last two at Iowa Park.
She's also hit 23 more in her club career, playing for several different teams.
She credited her long-time hitting coach Glenn Taylor for her improvement at the plate.
