Buffalo Wild Wings Armed Robbery Trial

Posted: Updated:

The trial of a man accused of stealing thousands from a local restaurant and locking employees in the freezer is underway.

Police said Darren Meadows, 40, used a semi-automatic handgun to force a pair of employees into the freezer at Buffalo Wild Wings in September 2010. During that time the victims said Meadows repeatedly threatened to kill them.

Police said Meadows eventually got away with about $2,500 but not before tripping an alarm that led police to the restaurant at Sikes Senter Mall. They were able to use surveillance footage to track down Meadows a few days later.

He is charged with two counts aggravated robbery. Each count carries a possible sentence of 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
