Prescription Problems?

Newschannel 6 is educating you when filling your prescriptions.

Harvest Drug & Gift wants patients to take advantage of every consultation when picking up a prescription.

Pharmacist with Harvest Drug & Gift said Texas law mandates that every pharmacist is required to spend a few minutes, and consult each person when getting prescriptions filled.
Harvest Drug & Gift said each patient needs to educate themselves on their health. Pharmacists suggest when filling prescriptions, don't hesitate to ask questions.

Questions they suggest you ask are, how long should I take this medication, how long should I store it, or how do you know if it doesn't work.

Janet Beard, Owner and Pharmacist at Harvest Drug & Gift, said, "When your pharmacists is going over your medication take that opportunity to actually take the time to read the directions on the medications on the bottle." Beard added, "Ask the pharmacists about it and look to see how many pills are in that bottle and if the amount is correct."

Harvest Drug & Gift said it's your responsibility as a patient to participate in your health care.

Pharmacist suggest if you have someone picking up a prescription for you, that you call in and speak with a pharmacist yourself. That way there's  no unanswered questions.

Harvest Drug & Gift hosts lunch and learns every Thursday at noon. Customers are provided with a one hour education session with topics of their choice, that way everyone is being proactive in living a healthier lifestyle.
