Women on Verge of 1st USA Today Rankin

Midwestern State reached a new high-water mark by receiving 64 votes in the latest USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll released Tuesday afternoon.
The Mustangs tallied the second most votes in the newly revamped South Central Region and are on the cusp of moving into the poll for the first time since as an NCAA Division II program.
MSU (5-1) is 10 points behind No. 25 Colorado Mesa for the final spot in the national rankings.
The Mustangs have received votes in each of the last three USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 releases after gaining mention for five consecutive weeks last season. Midwestern also received votes twice during the 2001-02 season.
MSU is one of six teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 25 Colorado Mesa while MSU, Colorado State-Pueblo, Fort Lewis (Colo.), St. Mary's (Texas) and Tarleton State (Texas) are receiving votes.
Midwestern State plays host to West Texas A&M Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.

Spellman Earns LSC Off. Player of the Week

Midwestern State's Keith Spellman garnered Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors Tuesday afternoon as released by league officials.
The 6-2, 185-pound sophomore transfer from Western Texas poured in 17 points to help the Mustangs to a pair of league wins on the road last week over Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Spellman scored 19 points including a pair of 3-pointers while going 7-of-12 from the free-throw line as MSU recovered from a 16-point deficit to claim a victory Thursday night at Incarnate Word.
"The Wizard" fired in 10 of his 12 shots from the charity stripe to score 15 points in 21 minutes as Midwestern once again overcame a double-digit first-half deficit Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Eastern New Mexico junior forward Dennis Hardwell garnered top defensive honors helping the Greyhounds to a pair of LSC opening wins over Abilene Christian and Angelo State.
Midwestern State battles 25th-ranked West Texas A&M in its home opener Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Reserved Tickets Close to Sold-Out

A limited number of reserved seats in the loge and end zone reserve remain available for basketball season ticket purchase at Midwestern State's D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Floor level reserved are sold out for the 2012-13 season.
Loge and end zone seats are available for $170 and $130 per seat, respectively.
General Admission season tickets remain available at a cost of $80 per seat.
All season ticket purchases include an option to buy the same seat should Midwestern State host postseason play.
Start times have been altered from previous season as weekday doubleheaders begin at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. while weekend doubleheaders commence at 4 and 6 p.m.
