Tanya joined the Newschannel 6 team as a reporter and Telemundo Correspondent in December of 2012. Before joining the team she worked for two years as a reporter for KCAU-TV in Sioux City, IA. There she covered everything from the 2011 Historic Missouri River flood, the aftermath of the devastating tornadoes that hit Iowa in 2010 and the Iowa Caucus and its effect in the national political world.
She grew up in the Caribbean city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was there during her high school years that she first became interested in journalism. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Print Journalism at the University of Sacred Heart in Puerto Rico. A little before completing her degree she realized that being in front of the camera conveying your stories is what she really wanted to do. That's why she decided to say goodbye to the year round warm weather and move to Boston where she completed her Master's Degree in Broadcast Journalism at Emerson College. While studying at Emerson she worked as a reporter for the school's award winning TV news station, WEBN. She was fortunate enough to cover the Massachusetts US Senate elections as well as President Obama's visits to Boston and Nashua, NH, among others.
On her last semester at Emerson, she got the opportunity to work as an intern in the Special Reports Unit at Fox 25 in Boston.
Outside of work, Tanya loves to spend times with her friends, do fun things outside if the weather is nice, travel and catch up on her favorite TV shows. She's looking forward to keeping you informed with the latest and most accurate information like you deserve. If you have any story ideas, comments or just want to share your story with her, feel free to send her an e-mail at tdejesus@kauz.com.
