Walmart Parking Lot Robbery Suspect Behind Bars

Posted: Updated:

Wichita Falls Police have arrested a man suspected of three separate robberies at two different Walmart parking lots.

According to the WFPD, the first robbery happened just around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when a Hispanic male in a Dallas Cowboys Jacket robbed a young man at gun point and stole his money in the Walmart parking lot on Lawrence Rd.

The second robbery happened shortly after the first one in the same parking lot when the same suspect reportedly snatched a woman's purse.

While police were searching for the suspect, a third robbery occurred at the Walmart parking lot on Central Fwy. where a suspect matching the same description tried to steal another woman's purse. The victim said he grabbed her purse a little after 8 p.m. and tried to run, but he dropped it and took off.

The WFPD teamed up with the Wichita County Sheriff's Office to find the suspect. They found 21-year-old Alberto Cruz Ortiz at a home on Palmento Dr. When officers approached Ortiz, they spotted a Dallas Cowboys jacket near the suspect. The man was arrested and taken into custody. He is charged with theft of a person, posession of marijuana and failure to Identify.

Detectives are investigating the possibility that all three incidents are related, but would not say for sure at this time. They are also interviewing several other people who may have been involved in the robberies.
