Holliday High School has posted a job opening for a new Head Football Coach and Athletic Director, but that doesn't necessarily mean current coach Cody Patton is moving on.
Since long-time coach Terry Wolf stepped down as football coach, and then as A.D. last year, Patton has been Head Football Coach and Principal Shannon Owen has been Athletic Director.
Now, the district is looking to combine the two jobs again, and posted the opening on multiple different sites, in addition to the ISD's website.
Newschannel 6 talked to Principal Owen Tuesday and he told us Patton will apply for the combined job, but also said that the current coach doesn't expect or want anything to be handed to him.
We also talked to Coach Patton, who said he will apply for the job, but that he will also apply for other jobs, just in case things don't work out in Holliday.
Patton's wife Mindy is the Volleyball Coach and led the Lady Eagles to the 2A State Tournament this season.
Principal Owen said he is hoping to have a Coach and A.D., whether it is Patton or someone new, in place by the end of March at the latest.
In the meantime, Patton is still serving as football coach.
