Firefighters have put out a massive commercial building fire at the 1500 block of Monroe Street.
A call came in Monday around 3:45 p.m. Three alarms were struck, and more than 22 units were called to the scene. The fire spread quickly through 3 empty store fronts, but a neighbor told Newschannel 6 the stores had been empty for a while. An occupied store on the end of the complex was saved from the flames.
A backhoe arrived at the scene just after 5:00 to demolish what was left of the building and start the cleanup process.
At this time it does not appear anyone was injured. Wichita Falls Fire Marshall David Collins said it could be a while before we know what caused the massive fire.
