Some Wichita Falls eighth graders are preparing for their next big academic step. Community leaders were at Zundy and Kirby Junior Highs Tuesday giving presentations on the Texas Scholar Program.
It focuses on the importance of enrolling in specific and challenging courses in high school. The goal is to build a strong foundation that will help prepare students for life after graduation whether they decide to join the military, attend a community college or four-year university.
We sat in on Bob Payton's presentation. He is a W.F.I.S.D. board member and business leader. A number of presenters will also speak to eighth graders at Barwise and McNeil Wednesday, including Newschannel 6 Lindsey Forst.
