Rider Trio Signs to Play College Baseball

Three more Rider Raider baseball players will be moving on to the next level.

Twins Landon and Payton Geisinger signed to play at Cisco (TX) College, while Casey Wissinger will play at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa.

Landon was named second-team All-District 4-4A as a junior in 2012, batting .316 with two homers, two triples and five doubles for an outstanding .927 OPS (On-base plus Slugging Percentage).

Payton was honorable-mention All-District at third base, and also earned the team Hustle Award.

Wissinger hit .250 with 13 runs scored in limited action with the Raider varsity, limited mostly to pinch-running duty later in the season. But in summer play with the Burkburnett Blacksox he excelled, helping lead the 17U-Red team to the Don Mattingly World Series.

That summer experience was what led to Casey signing with Northern Oklahoma.

"A Blacksox coach, one of the younger coaches, when I played on the 17s, is a coach up there at Northern." Wissinger said. "He came up and coached with my team and noticed me and said he wanted me to come up for a visit, and offered me the scholarship. I was real excited."

The twins say their coach at Cisco actually likes recruiting twins to play for him.

"I think he's had four in the past, said Payton. "So him liking us made us want to go there a lot more."

Landon and Payton said they're excited to keep playing together at the next level.

"I've always played with him, since I was in kindergarten," Payton said. "Ever since we started playing baseball."

"We've always been together," Landon said. "Always known each other, how we play on the field and everything."

The Raiders will open their season with a scrimmage at Burkburnett Monday, February 4th.

They'll start the regular season February 21 at the Lake Cities Tournament, taking on Midland Lee in The Colony.
