MSU Signs 34, Including 7 Texoma Stars

Midwestern State coach Bill Maskill unveiled a strong 2013 recruiting class following a furious day of activity Wednesday for National Signing Day.

The bumper crop of prospects includes 34 prep standouts who chose to continue their careers for the defending Lone Star Conference champions.

"This is a very solid, athletic class," MSU coach Bill Maskill said. "We were able to address depth needs with a very strong group of skill players."

The class includes 19 offensive position players including six offensive linemen, six wide receivers, three quarterbacks, three tight ends and a running back, while 15 defensive position players fill out the class including seven defensive linemen, five linebackers and three defensive backs.

Midwestern State claimed its third Lone Star Conference championship in the last four years rolling to a 9-1 regular season mark. The Mustangs fell to Indianapolis (Ind.) in the opening round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Mustangs have advanced to postseason competition on six occasions and have recorded winning campaigns in each of the last 13 seasons.

"I really like our class," Maskill said. "We've very athletic. We didn't sign many defensive guys but you wouldn't ever turn down the ones we got."
